Allyson Glenn is a figurative painter who specializes in portraiture and the human form.  In the formal discipline of painting, her work is informed by impressionism, realism and abstract expressionism.  She uses figurative narratives to examine social intimacy, emotion, isolation, and identity.  Her research interests are in humanism and social psychology, and sociology.

Allyson graduated with an MFA from the University of Calgary in 2000, and a BFA from the University of Alberta in 1998.  She attended The Royal College of Art, London, England in 1999 and The Kent Institute of Art and Design, Canterbury, England in 1997.  Allyson has received grants from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, BC Arts Council, and the Canada Council for the Arts.  She is the recipient of three Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Awards.  In 2010 she was awarded a President’s SSHRC Grant to research human anatomy.  Her work is part of several private and public collections such as the University of Calgary and The Alberta Foundation for the Arts.  She has exhibited in Canada, United States, England, and the Czech Republic.  Allyson lives in Saskatoon and is an Assistant Professor with The Department of Art and Art History at the University of Saskatchewan.
